To the Family, Friends and Relations of Ella Mae Manning, I offer my Sincerest Condolences. I first met Ella Mae when we were students at Cornell University, in the 70´s. (I graduated in 1975). Upon learning about Ella´s death, I contacted Mem bers of my Cornell Alumni website group. To the letter they all honored Ella´s memory with testimonies of her acts of kindness, friendliness and her
unselfish tutorial efforts of which many of us undergraduates benefited. Thank you "Elsa Mae". I left Connecticut in 1969 and didn´t move back until 1982. I was bike riding one morning, traveling from Goffe Street, up Sherman Ave., towards Whalley Ave., when I saw this lady who looked familiar to me. At first I thought that she must be someone who I had grown up with. But upon turning around and approaching the lady, I realized that she was a familiar person from another time. As I got closer. I asked her if she had attended Cornell. Of course her response was affirmative. I then told her that I had attended Cornell also and that our time there had overlapped. As I reintroduced myself, Ella Mae blurted out my nickname (Little Joe). We then visited for a minute, trying to catchup. It turned out that she knew my siblings, my former brother in-law and several others that I had grown up with in the Elm City. But, knowing Ella Mae I was not totally surprised by her divulgences. Over the years we had kept in touch even after I moved from Connecticut again. We´d sometimes call one another and start our conversation with (hi, guess who I met today?). Ella Mae has been a friend for all seasons. She has been a friend for all reasons. Thank you Ella Mae for being you. Bless Ella Mae´s family. Rest Ella Mae´s soul. Peace

My heart-felt condolences to the Manning Jennings family. Both Curtis and Ella frequently visited me during my accident recovery stay at Bridgeport Hospital. Their visits were very encouraging inspiriting and a light at the end of the tunnel...May Peace and Blessings be with you, Ella.

My condolences to the family. Ella was a generous, loving and kind person. Your mother was a blessing to so many people.
Ella advocated for the children at Davis Street School in New Haven, always searching for grant funding to help support the students. She was also an advocate for our SBHC department, she´d talk to parents and explained our services, benefits to enrolling their children. She was our walking poster board. She was a dedicated worker. Ella was my Davis Street SBHC family at work and outside of work. We enjoyed Christmas dinners, New Year´s morning breakfast, our group lunches and cookouts. I will miss her calls checking in and her laughter. Love you Ella
