Frederick Dale Thomson

Mt. Carmel, IL

Frederick Dale ""TBone" Thomson, 83, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at his residence surrounded by family.

He was born April 9, 1933, to Alva and Esther (Lomas) Thomson, in Richland County, Illinois. Dale served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. On July 25, 1955, he and L. Jean Abell married in Lawrence County, Lukin Township, at the Hopewell Church.

Dale was a member of Parkview Christian Church. He retired from Snap-On Tools in 1995 after working there 31 years. Vegetable gardening, restoring old tractors, pulling antique tractors and watching golf is some of the things he thoroughly enjoyed. He especially liked spending time with his family and his grandchildren who called him "Grandpa."

Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 60 years, L. Jean; children, Mike and wife Sherry Thomson, and, Vicki and husband Steve Williamson of Mt. Carmel; granddaughters, Shawna and Brian Burkhart, Joe and Lisha Pettyjohn, Chandi and Jerud Earnest, Brittany and Cory Fougnies, Kelci and Kyle Schonert, and Alyssa Williamson; great grandchildren, Noah and Josie Pettyjohn, Hazel and Opal Earnest, Landon and Carson Fougnies, and Knox Schonert; siblings, Mary K. (Willard) Smith of Danville, Indiana, David (Peggy) Thomson of Tucson, Arizona, and Eugene Coplea of Wabash, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings, Carl, Betty, Margaret, Vera, Howard, Mark, John, Loren, Jane, Louise and Richard.

A memorial service, and, burial in Harrison Cemetery in Lancaster, Illinois, will be held at a later date. Condolences may be made online at www.short-cunninghamfh.com Short-Cunningham Funeral Home is honored to serve the Thomson family.
