My condolences to your family. Jim was a very active volunteer for the New Jersey Bald Eagle project for many years. His observations were always accurate and thoughtful, and he shared his enthusiasm for bald eagles and all our rare wildlife. We will miss his kind presence and his contributions to the Endangered Species Program.

Dear family of Jim,
I knew your Dad/grand-dad from birding in Sussex. He was a wonderful person and I was so sad to hear that he passes. He and I shared a special experience - seeing a Bobcat in NJ.

My sincere sympathy to you all. He was a very special person.

Dave, Sharon and the Zamos Family.

I am sorry to hear about Jim's passing. He was a very good man and a great roll model for a young naturalist like me. He always treated me with respect, even when I was 13 years old and came to the club with a list of species that I "thought" I saw but had no idea what I was talking about. I have many very fond memories of your dad that will last a lifetime. I really hope he knows that I thank him for being such a great mentor. Along with my dad and George Johnson, they kept me on the straight and narrow. As I grew from calling him Mr. Zamos in my teens, to my friend Jim as an adult my life would have been a lot different had he not been a part of it.

I have always kept this photo I found of Jim when he was the superintendent of the Hackettstown Fish Hatchery. I thought I would share it.

Also, a lot of people would be surprised to know that Jim was a stand out safety on the Lafayette College football team back in the 50's.

The Ivory Billed Woodpecker is extint. My dear friend Jim is on the top of Very Rare List. Gret Father, Great man, Great friend. RSP
