Eric Anthony Soroe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, after bravely battling cancer at the age of 50. A native of New Orleans and current resident of Los Angeles, CA, Eric is survived by his life partner, Jerry Galanti of Los Angeles, his Sister, Robin Marie Soroe – Giroir, Brother in law, Michael A Giroir & Niece, Franchesca Renee Giroir , all in Kenner, LA. He is proceeded in death by his father, Theodore C Soroe, and Mother, Helen Durel Soroe, also of Kenner, LA. Eric was a genuine soul, a devoted partner and beloved by so many people. Anyone who has had the privilege to know him immediately recognized his joyful spirit. We were all fortunate to have been a part of Eric's life and circle of friends. He cared deeply for others and always wanted people to feel supported, valued and happy – the mark of a true friend and an exceptional person. Our thoughts are mixed with deep sadness at the loss of such an extraordinary person as well as an incredible joy to have known him and to have been a part of his life and creative endeavors. Originally from New Orleans, Eric brought his enthusiasm and love for beautiful design all around the world to New York and then, Los Angeles. His professionalism, passion and knowledge of drapery design allowed him to establish long-lasting relationships with the trend setters and leaders in the design community for the past 25 years. His dedication, creative eye and hard work allowed Eric to open his Soroe Studio Showroom in 2014, with the desire to host a curated collection of his favorite hand-picked & created products. We will miss Eric's handsome face, wicked sense of humor and absolute love for life. There will be a Funeral Mass and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA at 12:30 p.m., Monday Dec 5th. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Eric's honor. Please consider a donation as a tribute to Eric for the addition of garden benches to the front rose garden at St. John's Providence Hospital in Santa Monica, CA. I just found out yesterday about Eric's passing, and had just thought about him Thursday night, wondering how he was - I had lost track of him. We met in NYC in the late 90s, through mutual friends, and we reconnected in 2009 while I was in LA for work. I miss his joyful spirit and his sense of humor - in fact, when I thought of him last week, I was telling a friend of a joke he had told me. Rest in peace, Eric!(PS. the photo in this article captures his spirit wonderfully!)

Eric, I am saddened to hear about your struggle the past year. It sure was great to catch up with you three years ago sharing fond memories from high school. From working at Swenson' Ice Cream Parlor to your becoming an aficionado of great 80s music like Men Without Hats, The Vapors and Simple Minds you were always engaged in learning about something that was new and creative. Your friendship was always appreciated and valued. It is beautiful to read how you lived your dreams fully and sad that you have left the earth all too soon. I laugh today hearing you repeat in your best 'Parish' accent "Oh Eric, You're in my Home room!" I also Smile remembering our working your uncle's fishing pond at the New Orleans boat show in the Superdome and our mischievous ways creating mild havoc while cruising around in my dad's Lincoln. Miss ya old buddy, Donnie.
