Janice Flatley Rodosta, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on September 1, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 88. A proud graduate of Dominican High School Class of 1953 and Dominican College, she enjoyed luncheons with her high school classmates for 70 years. Janice was happily married to the late Joseph Rodosta for 56 years. While Janice worked briefly for Louisiana Auto Appraisal and Rodosta Motors, the majority of her life was dedicated to her family and faith. Together she and Joe raised five children, Randy Rodosta, Laurie Dupuy (Donald), Pam Bourgeois (Jay), Lisa Russell (Jimmy), and Gary Rodosta (Traci). Janice was an amazing mother, having four of her five children in four years. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren every day after school and over the summer, Chad (Kimberly), Jennifer (Rod), Jason (Andrea), Owen, Daniel (Bridget), Jessica (Ian), and Zachary. She was also a very proud great-grandmother of Addison, Gavin, Jack, Lila, and Veda. The heart of the family, Janice hosted holidays, birthdays, Saturday morning donuts and evening burgers by the pool, and many Sunday suppers. Janice was devoted to her Catholic faith, sometimes jokingly referred to as "St. Janice" by her husband. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Benilde, serving as a Eucharistic minister and bringing Holy Communion to the hospitalized, homebound, and nursing home patients for many years, and she made hundreds of rosaries for the missions. Janice was a member of The Legion of Mary, the Altar Society, the Pro-Life Committee, the Marians of New Orleans, and she was a Faithful Adorer at St. Benilde and St. Ann, where she was a parishioner for the last ten years. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Flatley, her brother William Flatley (Sue), and husband Joseph. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother James P. Flatley, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation for Janice will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at St. Ann Church and Shrine, 3601 Transcontinental Dr., Metairie, LA 70006.
