Janis Haase Obituary

HAASE Born October 19, 1934 in New Orleans, LA to Marion and John Newberry and passed away September 6, 2014 at her home in Sammamish, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold and more recently, by her adorable pug, Zoe. Survivors include her devoted daughter, Michelle Haase Grinslade, and her husband, Bret; grandchildren Gabrielle and Josette, many loving nieces and nephews and her cousin, Charles Newberry. Janis, Jan to many, was a long time resident of New Orleans. She and her husband Harold, Harry, loved selling sun catchers in the French Quarter, lounging by the pool and entertaining often - as evidenced by their extensive glassware collection. Janis worked a while in her twenties - down at city hall, attended classes at Delgado and did taxes during tax season. She and her sister Sandra formed S& J Services - a company with which they did catering and housekeeping. Did you know that Janis was secretly a poet and a writer with just a touch of the philosopher in her? Janis loved having everyone over - for food, for drink, for swimming…Long family holiday events were her favorite and every one of those included cake, without fail. She gladly offered up advice and her opinion on whatever topic you had in mind - and even those you didn't! Sometimes the advice was spot on and even when it wasn't, we all loved being taken care of. That, Janis did really well. Remember this one, her favorite? "It's not easy being green." Although Janis' last years found her less able to get around, she still traveled as much as she could. San Francisco, Disneyland, Hawaii and even Canada were just a few of the places she found herself visiting with her daughter and grandkids. There is a photo book to see just how much Janis loved and embraced life at www.mem.com . Janis will be celebrated in Sammamish and in New Orleans by her friends and family. Memorial gifts can be made to the Evergreen Health Foundation/Hospice Care, 12040 NE 128th St, MS 5, Kirkland, WA 98034. http://foundation.evergreenhospital.org.

HE Will Raise Her Up On Eagle's Wings,

Bear Her On The Breath Of Dawn,

Make Her To Shine Like The Sun,

And Hold Her In The Palm Of HIS Hand.

An Old Friend.
