Mary Lynne Friedman

August 1, 1948 – May 8, 2023 - Mary Lynne Friedman passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2023, at the age of 74. Born to Agnes Burke Friedman and Joseph D. Friedman Sr., Mary Lynne spent her early life in the Lakeview neighborhood of New Orleans and graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy. She went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Spring Hill College. She first worked as a medical technician and was employed by the Dupont Corporation for several years. She later attended Loyola University School of Law, where she graduated with a Juris Doctor degree. Post graduation, Mary Lynne clerked for a Jefferson Parish judge for a season before joining the staffs of Chaffe McCall, and later McGlinchey Stafford law firms. She went on to also provide legal support to the Jobbers Oil Transport Co., a company her father established. Mary Lynne loved life to the fullest and touched many lives through the various groups within her circle. Faith, family, friends, and pets were her priorities. She loved family gatherings that were often an opportunity to dress up (both herself and her beloved dog Montezuma) and experiment with new recipes; her Newcomers Club friends and activities (cards, crafts, bowling, travel to name but a few); Spring Hill friends and adventures; Book Club and Luncheon Club friends; special neighbors; and colleagues past and present. Mary Lynne also loved her Jotco family who meant so much to her and her family over the years. She is survived by her niece Leslie, grand-nephew John, grand-nieces Alison (Travis) and Isabel, great-grand nephews Finn and Rex, and great-grand niece Ruby, along with numerous family and friends. Mary Lynne is predeceased in death by her father, Joseph Friedman Sr.; brother, Joseph Friedman Jr.; sister-in-law, Katherine Friedman; mother, Agnes Friedman; nephew, Charles J. Nissel; and niece, Laura Nissel. The family wishes to thank all those whose love and prayers provided support to Mary Lynne and her family, as well as the staff of Monroe Street Veterinary Hospital. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at Jacob Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, on Thursday, May 25th, 2023. Visitation from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment immediately following at St. Patrick Cemetery No. 3, 143 City Park Avenue, New Orleans.
