Robert LeCompte Obituary

Robert (Bobby) LeCompte, creator of the Saints (AINTS) bag in 1980, passed away suddenly on July 26th. His untimely passing will leave his family and many friends asking why so soon. Bobby did not know a stranger, had a heart of GOLD and would more often than not, leave you smiling when he said goodbye. He was a Classic! Maybe God needed another Saint to come marching in. A 64 year resident of New Orleans and Jefferson Parish, Bobby graduated from Archbishop Rummel and UNO. He had a very successful career in the Beverage Alcohol and Gaming/casino businesses. As the owner of Spirits Tavern and then the GM at Buddy D's, Bobby became a real local personality and was loved by many. His final years were spent at the Treasure Chest as a Pit Boss manager. He retired in 2013. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Dad: Yvonne LeCompte McMurray, Charles LeCompte Sr, Francis McMurray, grandparents: George and Annie LeCompte , MawMaw Cécilia Elfert, Aunt Aline and Uncle George Johnson and Siena Grace McCoy (great niece). He leaves behind his brother Charles and wife Pam, Aunt Katherine and Uncle Donald LeCompte (Godfather), first cousins Karen Merrifield, Julie McNeil, Michael Elfert, Roy Elfert, Paul Elfert (deceased), step sisters Susan Coney and Cathy Yenni, nieces and nephew Denae and Brian McCoy, Logan LeCompte, Lacey and Bryan Beckering, great nieces and nephew Ada and Ayla McCoy and Nolan and Auna Beckering. He also leaves behind best friend Al Nelson, dear friends from the Cabin, and from the Franklin, Louisiana area. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial gathering at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie on Saturday morning, August 5, 2017 beginning at 9:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home's chapel. Private interment will be at St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Disabled Veterans, the NRA and Louisiana State Police. The online guestbook is available at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.

Deepest heartfelt sympathy to the Lecompte family. We learned today at mass of Robert's passing. I attended grammar school at St. Rita with Robert, though a year older. May the Lord comfort his family and friends in the memories that you hold dear.
