William David Edgeworth passed away on Wednesday August 24, 2022 at the age of 72. Beloved father of Brian D. Edgeworth (Carolina) and Elizabeth Miller. Grandfather of William Miller, Olivia Miller, and Oakley Reeves. Son of the late Everett Frances Wells Ricks and William Percy Edgeworth and his stepfather Bill Ricks. Brother of Donna Ricks. Uncle to Daniel Ricks. It has been said, "A man's friendships are one of the best measures of his worth." If true, then few can say they were wealthier than Dave Edgeworth. Dave grew up in Memphis, TN where he graduated from Bartlett High School and was an All-Star baseball player. He then graduated from Memphis State University in 1973 where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha and began a career with Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical lasting over 35 years. Lately Dave has spent over a decade in a well earned and wonderful retirement enjoying time with his numerous friends and family. At the time of this writing dozens of people from his childhood to current times have reached out with messages of support and kindness. They are his friends from high school and baseball players that played beside him or were later coached by him at Muss Bertolino playground and the Kenner All Stars. Others knew him professionally as colleagues and many thanked him for hiring them and getting them started in their career. Dave stayed very close to his friends from college. The group known as "The Big Chill" gets together yearly and have shared the joys of life for decades. There's another group that is equally as close and shares his greatest hobby. Many times a week you can find Dave and "Da Boys" at Chateau Estates Country Club playing golf. And Dave was pretty good with 5 confirmed Hole in Ones. There's a reason his nickname was "The Exec." And nothing was more important than family. He talked fondly and often about the countless hours playing basketball in the driveway with his son. It was a bond they shared and recalled often. Lately one of his greatest joys was visiting his daughter and his three grandkids. It also gave him and his daughter the opportunity to watch the absolutely awful reality television shows together that they both loved and shared (he would laugh at that!). And always by his side were his beloved babies Birdie and Bailey. He lit up when he talked about them and loved to show them around town. Dave was lucky to be loved by so many and have an impact on their lives. The luckiest of all were those that could call him a father, family member, neighbor and friend. You were a shining light in this world and you will be celebrated and missed. For those on the inside, leave no doubt that Dave Edgeworth lived up to the moniker of "The Man, The Myth, The Legend." Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Memorial Funeral Service at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
