James Charles Fulcher Jr.

James Fulcher Obituary

James Charles Fulcher, Jr., 18 years, of Council Bluffs, passed away July 28, 2007.

He was born in Rochester, Ind., on November 3, 1988. He found his way to Council Bluffs at a young age and from then started to make an impact on those around him.

He always put others' needs before his own. He was a talented and bright young man who was taken too early in life. James grew up in the foster care system and worked hard to make it on his own.

He graduated from Lewis Central High School in May 2007, and planned to attend Iowa Western Community College on a full scholarship. He lived by the quote, "They said I was unmarked by life", but he truly marked the lives of those around him. We will always remember his laugh, his smile, his capacity to love and his ability to see the good in others. We will miss him greatly and know that we will see him again someday in heaven.

James is survived by his father, James Charles Fulcher, Sr.; mother, Susan Shortz; sisters, Tiffany and Crystal Fulcher; aunt and uncle, Rachel and John Moore; cousins, Ashley and Sheyanne Scheffer; foster parents, Jack and Jan Smyser; and the family he adopted, Floyd, Tessie and Krystle Thompson, Kristine Hunt and Keith Fisher and many friends and coworkers who loved him.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m on Wednesday, August 1st, at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday 12:00 p.m. at Sherwood Community Church, 2109 Railroad Highway and Highway 6, with a luncheon to follow.

James was my best friend... I miss him, and the good times we shared. I remember playing football and basketball with him, and we were friends and team mates at childrens square. Me and James were a team, and we still are, I miss him and can't wait to see him again.

James,
I am going to miss him so much! We met when he came To Abraham Lincoln High School during the middle of our Junior year. I met him in English Class and made conversation with him everyday until it was the last day of school. We exchanged numbers and kept in touch. I wish that we could have hung out and I wish that we would have talked a lot more. I know he said he didn't have much friends, but I hope that he is looking down at us and saying to himself that he has alot of friends. I love him very much and I can't wait to see him someday in Heaven!

It's hard to believe James is really gone... I knew him for a little over a year, and I mean he was just so close to me and my family. He used to say he was my superman, and that he would always protect me, and I know he always will. I still love James with all my heart, and I just wish I could have spent more time with him. I mean I was almost always with him, but I wish there were more memories I could have had of him. I know God works in mysterious ways, and that he took James back home because he was done with the task he was supposed to do on Earth. James was here to teach us all something, now that he is gone it is time for us to figure out what it was. He will always be with us in spirit and in memory... till the day we can meet him again in Heaven. We all love you James, and will miss you.

James, you were an amazing person, an amazing friend, with an amazing heart. im so lucky to have gotten the chance to know you. working with you in the play was one of our greatest memories, and i wouldn't trade you for a different partner for anything. prom, was awesome, i'm so glad you were in my group because you made it more fun than anyone else, especially with the plastic sword you found. =) i'll never forget that night. i'll also never forget the fact that you had size 17 shoes, you were so proud of that. And that you got a 33. =)

James, you were one of the best guys at our school. you had amazing values, and i could talk to you about anything, even though you were shy at first, i'm so glad you got more comfortable with me, we shared some great memories, and you could always make me laugh. i will miss you so much. more than you ever probably thought i would. it breaks my heart to know that you'll never going to live out your dream. but just know, know that you'll always be remembered. i promise. i love you kid. and i miss you so much..

I wish I would I have got to know you better. Your Donald Duck voice always got me going. Our research paper in English wasn't a research paper at all to you, it was more of a compitetion. At Famous Dave's you wouldn't sit with us because you didn't know us. Now I wish I wouldv'e went and sat with you.

I will see you someday.
You will be truely missed.

I had just recently graduated with James in May. I didnt have any classes with him but i did see him around school everyday because he had the same class as me but the hour before i had it. He was well known for his Donald Duck voice and boy was he good at it. I remember seeing him at stage at titan talent doing his impression of donald duck...it was really good and really funny.

I wish i would have gotten to know him better.

It makes my stomach twist to know i saw and had a conversation with James only 5 days before his death.
I mean i remember him telling me, my mom, dad, and sister what he was going to college for and how he was going to play basketball.
I also remember telling him that im sure i'll see him around campus since we were both going to IWCC.

It's now going to be werid to go to college knowing i'll never get to see him play ball and i'll never pass him in the halls.
James you will be remembered and never forgotten

I'll see you someday James
I'll see you in heaven buddy

I had the opportunity to be in two productions at Lewis Central with James. I can honestly say Jame's was the funniest guy I have ever met. That dang Donald Duck impression could make anyone laugh no matter what high tension situation was going on. Jame's was a hard worker and I found out he never quit. It didn't matter what the situation was he NEVER quit. You were a great guy, James. I guarantee you touched the lives of all of us.

I'm sure that by now you all know that there are angels masquerading as people on this earth and that James was the bravest of them. I'll miss him so much.

I first met James when I was in seventh grade. I could honestly say that James was not only our trouble maker, but our class clown as well, each day he would bring laughter and smiles throughout our class. I feel that he was the kind of person who went by the quote “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". I know James didn’t have the best childhood growing up, but he never let that stop him from being the person he wanted to become. I fell out of contact with James after school but recently ran into him, five years later. I was amazed at the complete turn around he had encountered. He seemed to have fully straightened out his life and was headed on the right path to adulthood and success. I was looking forward to going to college with him and getting to know him all over again. I am sorry to say that I will not have the chance to do that. James is in my prayers and he will always hold a special place in my heart.

I knew James from last year when he worked at Fazoli's.. He started a few weeks before I left, and even in that small amount of time I knew him as a sweet guy who would always go out of his way to help. I wish I could have gotten to know him better, but I'm glad I knew him for the amount I did, and will always remember him. My sympathy to his family, and friends, I will keep you in my prayers!

I just met James a little over a week ago and found out he graduated with my daughter in May. I met him at Menard's and he was very helpful in helping me load my purchases, then a couple of days later he was the one that took my order at Fazoli's.

I teased him that he must have a twin and he said no just 2 jobs. What a hard worker, and he had so much going for him. We chatted and he told me he had a full ride at IWCC and would be playing basketball there in the fall. I told him we would be sure to watch him play since my daughter would also be attending IWCC, and that I knew he'd would be a great success someday.

All that is gone now that he has been taken from this earth too soon. GOD works in mysterious ways, and I know that GOD knew what a wonderful individual James had become, even though he had many hard times growing up, and GOD needed him to come home to him. I pray that his family and friends will find comfort that James is in HEAVEN...Rest In Peace...James you will be missed....but not forgotten.

I marvelled at James' spirit and attitude. Life gave James a lot of hard knocks but he kept a good heart and wonderful disposition. I will miss you, James. God bless.

I will miss the times we had together working at Menards, like when we had no carts to push at Menards, we joked around in the cart corals that gave us shade during the hot days of work. Working with you made the day go by faster with laughter. You were just a all-around cool person to hang around with. I will always remember meeting you on my first day at work. You will be deeply missed, I will never forget ya.

My heart goes out to the Smyser's, Fulcher's, and all of James friends and family members. I have heard many wonderful things about James. I taught his younger sister, Crystal, at Lewis Central 8 years ago. Please know heaven is a brighter place with him there. My brother-in-law was killed 18 years ago when he was only 17 years old. We know God takes the best first!

James was a friend of mine. Our friendship started in elementary and grew over the years. We have been through some rough times together, School and Clarinda Academy, but I can say for the better. Such a shame to be taken so early. Such a shame that I couldn't say goodbye, but as I type this crying and feeling torn about the fact, I say I love ya bro and I wiil always remember you,and keep you in my heart, LOVE ALWAYS your friend of a lifetime, DUSTIN...

What a sad day to loose such a bright young man who had such a rough start. I knew him as Jimmy. A little boy with a huge attitude. I thought how unfair. He strived and accomplished so much it seems. And to have it all taken away from him. God must have decided he did what he was here to do and now it was time for him to go back home to god. He will be missed. He had turned into such a handsome young man. Rest in peace Jimmy you are a better man for all you did. Love ya, Kim, Miranda, Zakery, and Akacia.
