Michael Patrick Brown

Michael, born November 7, 1957, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 8th, one day after his 60th birthday. Michael's life began in Waldwick, NJ. He attended St. Luke's Church and Elementary School in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ and graduated from Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ, where he was captain of the football team in 1976. He attended Ohio University, until 1978 and moved to California soon thereafter.

Mike enrolled in the Los Angeles Police Academy where he graduated 3rd in his class in 1981. After serving in the LAPD he moved north to continue his career with the San Jose PD. Here he worked in the patrol division then quickly moved up and became a detective in the Sexual Assaults Investigative Unit. He focused on more difficult high profile cases and earned many letters of commendation and excellence awards for his work. Mike moved to the Homicide Unit, handling major homicide cases. He became a legend in his detective career and was known as one of the best detectives the San Jose PD has ever had. He worked closely with the community and victim's families to lend his support. When Mike retired from SJPD, his detective work was not done. He earned the most important spot at the District Attorney's Office in Santa Clara County, the 'Cold Case' Homicide position. Mike assisted district attorneys for years in solving cases that went unsolved.

Michael was predeceased by his mother, Marguerite D. Brown in 2002. He leaves behind; his wife of 22 years, Victoria Brown, and his daughter Kathryn M. Brown, his father, Walter P. Brown, brothers Edward W. Brown and Walter J. Brown, sister Maureen Locke and her husband Michael, plus many other family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Sat. Dec. 16th at St. Luke's R.C. Church, 340 Franklin Tpke., Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. The church asks that no flowers be sent during Advent.
