FLINKERRudolph G.L., 83, of Glen Rock, NJ, for forty-eight years on Friday, June 29, 2007 at his home. Born in Chicago, IL, he earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME and served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. Mr. Flinker was an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Glen Rock, NJ, having served two terms, 1963 and 1983, as President of the Church Council, served as treasurer of the Council for many years and as a member of the choir from 1960 to the present. Rudolph was also a member of the Activities Club of Glen Rock.
Prior to retiring in 1988, he was a Vice President of Morgan Guaranty Trust, now Morgan Chase, in New York City, where he worked in the Trusts and Investments Department for forty-two years. After retiring, he traveled the world with his wife.
Beloved husband of fifty-six years of Sonia (nee Melching) Flinker. Loving and devoted father of Rudolph Flinker and his wife, Debra, of Walnut Creek, CA, Peter Flinker and his wife, Stephanie, of Leeds, MA, Kathe Mullally of Hull, MA, and Lisa Curtis and her husband, William of Malibu, CA. Cherished grandfather of Jeffrey and his wife, Julia, William, James, Christopher, Daniel, Jenny, Chelsea, Sarah, Rebecca and Alexa. Adored great grandfather of Natalie Noelle. Dear brother of Marie Putney and her husband, Blake of Charleston, SC, and Barbara Taylor and her husband, William, of West Hartford, CT. Devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews.
His was a life well-lived.
A funeral service is planned for 2 PM on Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 233 South Highwood Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ 07452, followed by a reception at the church to which all are welcome.
