Jack Lovelace Obituary

Jack L. Lovelace, formerly of North Platte died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, in Evansville, Ind. He was born on July 28, 1936, to Homer and Kathryn Lovelace in Lincoln. Jack grew up and went to school in the Lincoln and Lexington area. He then moved to North Platte where he graduated from N.P.H.S. with the class of 1954. He joined the military upon graduation, serving in the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.
Jack was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as a Boiler Maker until his retirement.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in North Platte and a past deacon.

Jack married Jackie DeVoy of Evansville, Ind., on Dec. 31, 2007.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Jeffery of North Platte, and a daughter, Donna of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters, Pat (Bob) Schimek of North Platte and Connie (Bob) Runge of Sidney; two brothers, Mike (Lois) Lovelace of Millington, Tenn., and Ronnie (Yvette) Lovelace of Moneno, Calif.; and a grandson, Christian Lovelace of North Platte; five step-daughters, Penny Mueller of Kearney, Peggy Shearer of South Carolina, Jennie Stumpf of Indiana, Mary Mitchell of Indiana and Kim Giles of Texas; five step-sons, David Simants of Kearney, Michael and David DeVoy of Indiana, John DeVoy of Iowa; also 14 step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Pricilla Wills Lovelace; two brothers, Claude and Gary Lovelace; and a stepson, Jerry Giles.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 900 E. Second, with Pastor Bob Payne officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be given to the Calvary Baptist Church.
