Edgar Burke Obituary


Edgar "Eddie" M. Burke, 77, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Sterling Care Nursing Home in Boonsboro, Maryland.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Panorama Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jim Williams, officiating.

Eddie was born September 9, 1946, at home in Washington, Virginia, son of the late Erwin Winson Burke and Martha Anderson Burke Gillespie.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He worked for American Viscose and Richard Eastham Construction. Eddie loved playing softball with the Gladiator's, going to the race track at Charlestown and playing bingo.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Surviving is a brother, Abe Burke of Linden; and four sisters, Mabel Burke and Sheila Henry, both of Front Royal, Janet Smith of Front Royal, and Susan Skinner of Lake Wales, Florida.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Rev. Jimmy Burke, Dave Burke, and Glenn Gillespie; and two sisters, Corrine Eastham, and Peggy Pearson.
