Mildred Zollman Obituary
Mildred Zollman passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at her new home, Hidden Springs Senior Living, after a brief illness.
She was born in Bentonville, VA on April 16, 1929, the daughter of Virgil E. and Clarice S. Lentz.
Mildred married Nelson Zollman in Bentonville on November 7, 1947 and they enjoyed 66 years of happy marriage until Mr. Zollman's death in 2014.
Mildred and her husband were among the founding members of the South Warren Volunteer Fire Department and had never missed a meeting having 43 years of perfect attendance with the organization until he passed away.
She was also a member of the Bentonville Baptist Church and spent many years working with the Sunday children's programs and Vacation Bible School.
She spent her adult life as a homemaker, creating a loving home for her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Anita Mills (Gene) of Winchester and Nancy Ewankov (Bob) of Stephens City, as well as two grandchildren, Brian Mills and Bethany Mills, both of Winchester. Her sister, Olive Plauger of Tennessee, also survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Raymond Lentz, Robert Lentz and Kenneth Lentz.
A funeral service will be held at Maddox Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Bentonville Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Ingles, Kenneth Thurston, Barry Brandon, John Updike, Walter Judd and Gene Mills.

Anita, Nancy and families: I was so very sorry to hear of your mother's untimely passing. She was a wonderful friend to both me and my mother. Miss Mildred touched the lives of countless children throughout her life as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. I have known her my entire life and will cherish every memory. The Bentonville community has lost yet another wonderful person. Her presence and light will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her daughters and their families.
