Dominic "Doc" Julio Nicometo

1928 - 2016

Dominic "Doc" Julio Nicometo, resident of The Villages of Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday July 11, 2016 at the age of 87. Dominic was born July 29, 1928 in Oakfield, NY. and later moved to Batavia, NY.
Doc worked at Sylvania for many years and in 1968 he moved to Florida and became a successful restaurant owner for 35 years. After retiring he moved to The Villages, along with his wife Sandra Nicometo of 30 years, to enjoy his retirement years bowling and playing golf.
Doc had a big heart and could always make you smile. His love for the Yankees and Penn State was never denied and he never missed a chance to go roll the dice or beat you in a card game.
Dominic was preceded in death by his parents Constanzo and Candita Nicometo; wife, Mary M Nicometo; four brothers, James, Arthur, Frank and Charles and two sisters, Florence and Mary.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Nicometo, two sons Dominic ""Butch"" Nicometo and wife Linda, David Nicometo and wife Diane; two daughters Judith Thompson and Lisa Frederic and husband Shane, all of Niceville, Florida; brother Albert Nick and sisters Constance Woodruff and Olga Deas all of Montgomery, Alabama; grandchildren, Tony, Nikki, Ashlee, Alyssa, David, Samuel, Drew and Lauren and 7 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
On Friday, July 22, 2016 the family will receive friends at 2pm followed by a Memorial Mass at 3pm to honor the life of Doc at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church of Niceville, 1200 Valparaiso Blvd, Niceville, FL 32578.
Private family burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery of Valparaiso Florida.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to caregivers Jan and Jackie, Brownwood Care Center, Leesburg Regional Hospital and Lane Purcell Hospice for taking such good care of Doc.
