Kenneth Lundy Obituary

October 16, 2016, saw Kenneth Hershel Lundy return home. He was born to John Daniel and Bertie Mae Lundy September 21, 1935, in Laurel Hill, FL. Like that song by Scott McCreery, the Dash in Between, his life is measured by the time between the beginning and the end on this physical plain. All who knew him will remember his unfailing humor and ability to laugh at the impossible. He lived to laugh and didn't always follow societal norms - he was brave enough to live his life out loud and dance to beat of his own drum. The afterlife just got a little livelier with Hershel joining his grandfather, Uncle Bill Lundy, father Dan and mother Bertie Mae, brothers JD, Alton, Buren and nephew Ronnie.
Hershel retired from Westinghouse in 1997 where he worked as a machinist for over 20 years. Although he didn't complete high school, he was very proud to be the one engineers came to when they needed advice regarding machining parts. While working as a machinist, he also ran his farm and raised his four children of whom he was very proud. He ensured they were instilled with the values of hard work and a good education which lead to each of them leading successful, productive lives and passing those values on to their children.
Hershel is survived by his wife Etta Lundy, four children Kenneth Darel Lundy, his wife Yen, their children April and Kim; Kathy Mae Fraser, her husband Jim, and her son Lance Thompson; Karen Lundy Gurisko, her husband Paul, children Dustin, Justin and Rachael Stewart; Cynthia Lynn Childress, her husband William, their 4 children Kinley, Alec, Parker, and Jared; his brother Junius Lundy and his wife, Barbara; His sister Vernice Anderson; his sister Iva Wood and her husband Dwayne . He has ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00am from the chapel of Brackney Funeral Service, with Chaplain Mark Smith officiating, a burial will follow at Almarante Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, from 10 am to 11 am at the funeral home.
The here and now will be a lot less entertaining without Hershel, but his legacy will endure….….

As Industrial Engineer, most of my duties were working with the EXCELLENT machinist on the "plant floor". Ken was the kind of machinists, employee and person, who was always cooperative and could provide productive ideas for our company. What a blessing for Westinghouse, Pensacola & America.
