James Fisher Obituary

James Fisher
Born: April 20, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois
Died: July 5, 2021
James Fisher passed away on July 5, 2021 at Northwestern Hospital surrounded by his wife and daughter. He was born on April 20, 1952 to Robert and Elsie (Gergits) Fisher in Chicago, Illinois, but spent his childhood and adolescent years in Wonder Lake, Illinois.
After high school Jim joined the United States Army where he was a printsman. He was a proud military veteran and enjoyed his days he spent in the service. On March 13, 1978, he married the love of his life, Joni Naylor. After they were married, they moved to McHenry where he resided the rest of his life.
Jim was a devoted family man and was an exceptional husband and father. He was a great friend and had a heart of gold. He loved fishing and could be found out on the lake or fishing from the shore when the weather was nice. He also had a love for gardening, growing vegetables and planted beautiful flower beds every summer. What brought him even more joy was sharing his vegetables and fresh honey with family and friends. After Jim retired, he became a beekeeper and mentored local beekeepers as a hobby. Most days you could find Jim on his riding lawn mower checking the garden and bees while visiting with the neighbors. Jim was a member of the Harvard Sportsman Club where he volunteered in the kitchen every month. He loved birdwatching and spending his morning time drinking his coffee and watching the birds at the feeders. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandson, taking him for tractor rides, tending the garden together and playing outdoors. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Joni Fisher, daughter Kristi (Tom) Stamatis, sister Janice (Charles) Vogel, brother in law Terry Arend, sister in law Judy Post, brother in law James (Nancy) Naylor, sister in law Jackie Naylor, sister in law Sue (Brett) Coomber, grandson Thomas Stamatis, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother in law William Naylor, father Robert Fisher and mother Elsie(Gergits) Fisher.
