Robert Peterson Obituary

Robert D. Peterson
Born: January 18, 1943 in Chicago, IL
Died: July 29, 2023 in McHenry, IL
Robert D. Peterson, 80, of Woodstock passed away peacefully on June 29, 2023 at Northwestern Medical, McHenry after a long battle with several health conditions.
He was born January 18, 1943 in Chicago to Edward A. and Alice M. (Behrends) Peterson.
Bob spent most of his childhood in Des Plaines Illinois, growing up with his brothers, William, and John. He later moved to Woodstock to complete his High School years and was a proud inductee into the Woodstock High School Football Hall of Fame (1959). Bob completed his college education at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, and later received his Masters in Education from Northern Illinois University.
He spent his career teaching High School Biology at the Huntley High School where he was also known as "Coach Rock" by the football team. He made many lasting friendships and was still in contact with many of his former students.
Bob had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, raising bees, gardening and tending to his Koi pond. He was also fond of watching and trading stocks. While he considered it a hobby, family will tell you he was a real life day trader. He was most proud of his 8 grandchildren whom he adored and enjoyed reminiscing with.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Carl, MD) Graf, MD and Rebecca (Chris, DDS) Leonard, DDS; his grandchildren, Andrew, Trevor, Kelly, Christopher Jr., Matthew, Katelyn, Nicholas, Kristyn; his brothers, William Peterson and John Peterson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, and mother of his children, Suzette Marie (Adamowitz) Peterson; and two other wives, Kathryn (Hanni) Peterson and Bonnie (Lisenby) Peterson.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at the Schneider Leucht Merwin Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock from 10:00 am until the 12:00 pm Funeral Service. Interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock.

I´m so sorry for your loss. I knew Bob as a kind man who loved Buddy and his family. He enjoyed his beautiful land. It was a pleasure to work with him.

Having moved to Florida and having not seen Robert for probably 10 years or more, I was shocked to see that he had left us for the big farm in the sky. I worked with Robert for many, many years. We used to have many fun time parties at his farmette in Woodstock. He was such a dear person and if you needed anything, Robert was always there. This will be a sad world without Robert. He certainly loved it. Again, you have my sympathy. He was a wonderful fun, fellow teacher, friend, and guardian of this earth. Til we meet again, dear friend.

Bob, my neighbor, was always teaching. Having him as a neighbor was enlightening and enriching to me and my children. Did you know skunks eat bees? He proved it with the scat.
