Alfred Justak Obituary

ALFRED J. JUSTAK "JUICY" HIGHLAND, IN
Alfred J. Justak, 81 of Highland, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013. Beloved husband for 60 years of Laura (nee Koepke); loving father of Mark (Cheryl) Justak, Kathy (Charles) Liberatore and Susie (Dan) Shaner; cherished grandfather of Justin Liberatore, Tiffany (Aaron) Smith, Sam and Scott Shaner; proud great grandfather of Austin Alfred Smith; caring brother of Margie (Keith) Smith. Preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Elizabeth Justak. Juicy served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 150 and St. James Church. He loved to go fishing, and to grow vegetables and beautiful flowers in his garden. In his earlier years, he enjoyed spending time with his family water skiing in the summer and snow skiing in the winter. He also loved to watch sports and cheer for Notre Dame, the Cubs and the Bears. However, what gave Juicy one of the greatest joys in his life was spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their baseball, football and basketball games throughout their school years. He was everyone’s biggest fan! Visitation will be Friday, September 6, 2013 from 3:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 4:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN and on Saturday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, Highland, IN. Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association in his memory would be appreciated. www.kishfuneralhome.net

I babysat for Al and Laura in the 1960´s. My parents (the late Myrtle and Floyd Feasel) were friends of the family for many years. As a teen, I thought Al and Laura were the coolest couple ever. He was a terrific guy, and had such a great sense of humor. My condolences to the Justak and Keopke families.

Dear Justak Family...
I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of your father. I know how close you all were to your father and what an influence he had on your lives. Your father had such an amazing personality, and he was loved and respected by everyone who met him. He was a wonderful role model and mentor, and his advice and support will be greatly missed by so many. We learned quite a bit from him, and we will alway remember his words of wisdom. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your father...he will remain in our hearts forever. I hope you can find peace in the wonderful life he lived. May he rest in peace. God Bless all of you...

Laura and Shaner Family,
This morning I was reminiscing with my sister about Juice and what a wonderful grandfather he was to Sam and Scotty. I remember meeting Laura and Juice when Sam was in first grade at the first Pop Warner football practice and then seeing them at all practices and games. Then we were lucky enough to see them at basketball and baseball games too for the next 12 years! They not only cheered their own grandchild on but everyone else with as much enthusiasm.
What a wonderful life Juice lead to be surrounded with so much love from family, friends, and the community. The Adams family has the fondest memories of Juice and will continue as we aspire to be like him as a grandparent. The boys will forever remember the fishing trip to Canada, all the Pop Warner memories, and of course all the after parties. He will be missed but definitely not forgotten!
Much love,
Linda, Michael, and Luke Adams

Laura, Susie, Scott, Sam and Dan;
I know that mere words cannot express the sadness and loss you feel at this time. I would like to thank you for sharing you husband, father and grandfather with us. Juicy was one of a kind, his presence would light up a room, he was always there with a hug, smile or just a wave. When you look up grandfather in the dictionary Juicy's picture should be there. Heaven got a little better yesterday when Juicy ran through the gates. Our prayers are with you at this time. God Bless and thank you again.
