Dr. Gary A. Lynch

DR. GARY A. LYNCH VALPARAISO, IN Dr. Gary A. Lynch, age 70, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008. Born in Connersville, IN on February 26, 1938 he was the only child of the late Wilber F. and Louise H. (nee Huff) Lynch. He was married on August 27, 1960 to Arlene J. (nee Sigo) of Remington, IN. Dr. Lynch graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Economics. He accepted a teacher's assistant position at Washington State University in Pullman and pursued a Doctorate in his field. He accepted a professor position at the University of Idaho and taught there while writing his dissertation. Dr. Lynch graduated in 1968 with a Ph.D. in Economics from Washington State University. After his sabbatical in Chicago in 1974, he accepted a position as the Dean of Business at the University of Evansville in 1976. In 1981, he relocated to Valparaiso, IN, and accepted a position as the Chairman of the School of Business at Indiana University Northwest in Gary, IN. He stepped down to teach Economics and continued until his retirement in 2003. Dr. Lynch was a published author, consultant, appeared on television many times as an Economics expert, and member of Delta Sigma Pi of IUN. Survived by his wife of 48 years, Arlene J. Lynch of Valparaiso, IN; three children: Julie of Valparaiso, IN, Barbara of Evansville, IN and Charles (Susie) of Wheatfield, IN; four grandchildren: Blaine of Evansville, IN, Vincent, Reed and Jill of Wheatfield, IN. Funeral services will be held from the Dykes Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, IN. Rev. Joseph Pawlowski officiating. Interment at St. Paul Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN. Friends may call on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. Wake Service at the Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 N. Campbell Street, Valparaiso, IN.
