Michael Jakubowicz Obituary

Michael Jakubowicz (Jake) East Chicago Michael Jakubowicz, age 90, of East Chicago, IN passed away Thursday, June 8, 2006 at St.Anthony Nursing Home, Crown Point, IN. He is survived by: three sons: Kenneth (Margaret) Jakubowicz of Schererville, IN, James (Patty) Jakubowicz of Crown Point, IN and Fred (Tena) Jakubowicz of Middlebury, IN; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife,Helen (nee Kolodziej), brother, Joseph, sisters: Sister Mary Dulcianne, Jean (John) Matlock and Helen(Frank) Kujawa. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 9:30 A.M.at the Lesniak Funeral Home, 4918 Magoun Avenue, East Chicago, IN and a 10:00 A.M. Mass at St.Stanislaus Church with Fr. Bruno Socha officiating. Burial, Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Friends may call at the Lessened Funeral Home for visitation on Monday from 2 to 5 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. Rosary Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. Posting of Colors at 7:30 P.M. Mr. Jakubowicz was born July 18,1915 to Andrew and Marie (Janizek) Jakubowicz. He was a lifelong resident of East Chicago, a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Past President and member of Blue Army Rosary Makers for 20 years. A retired electrician from Inland Steel Co. in East Chicago, IN and Turbine Room Operator for BP Amoco Standard Oil Co. in Whiting, IN, a Veteran of World War II U.S. Army 11th Armored Division and fought in the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. He is a member of American Legion Allied Post 369 who will conduct Miliary Funeral Services.
