Steven Kristoff Obituary
Steven E. Kristoff, age 79, of Hammond, IN passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Esther M.; two children: Steven R. (Renana) Kristoff of Oldenburg, IN and Catherine (Marty) Lakatos of Chesterton, IN; five grandchildren: Steven, Amanda and Carol Lakatos of Chesterton, IN and Steven C. and Michael Kristoff of Oldenburg, IN; one brother, Eugene (Grace) Kristoff of Highland, IN; one brother-in-law, Russell Scheibel; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Scheibel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Steve was a lifetime resident of this area and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired Design Draftsman from Union Carbide where he worked for 30 years and also worked for eight years at Capitol Engineering. For information, call LaHayne Funeral Home at (219) 845-3600.

Your dad was a genuine person and the best neighbor anyone could ask for. I really enjoyed our joking and making him smile. We were all very blessed to have him in our lives. May all the memories bring you comfort and may God Bless you all.
