GINSBERG--Edward. "Eddie Upnick" of Bayside, NY, died April 5, 2021, age 67, after a year-long battle with cancer. A non-stop source of humor, impressions, and movie quotes, he was a gifted athlete and creative genius. BA in Anthropology, SUNY New Paltz, 1976; scouted for MLB by the Tigers; sold exotic reptiles; insurance; labels for Soabar, Avery-Dennison, and his company, The Label Man; performed as Groucho Marx on The Gong Show and as Jimmy Carter on the record, "Billy, See;" wrote jokes (Rodney Dangerfield, et al.), the SNL spoof ad of a circumcision in a luxury car; invented Super Chess, a Games Magazine top 10 game of 1987, and fantasy baseball before the Internet; day trader; and author (as Eddie Upnick) of the "Time Will Tell" seven book science fiction series. Eddie would want us to remember, not his year from hell, but his remarkable life. He is survived by his adoring wife of 39 years, Linda Schildkraut, brother Lloyd (Karen), brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marc Schildkraut and Mary Dalheim, mother-in-law, Joyce Schildkraut, niece and nephew Rachel and Tim Callahan, great-nephews, Finnegan and Donovan, and parrot, Barney.
