I wonder why in June you come to mind so strongly. The world has changed so much since you left us. I would love to talk to you about it. Maybe eventually we will meet again. I hope so.

Thinking of you, my friend.

Teresa was a personal and professional mentor to me, a dear friend who stood with me whenever I needed her, and who inspired me every time I talked to her. She was wildly intelligent, had a phenomenal memory, was proud and fiercely independent, appreciated life's absurdities, and had a great sense of humor. She was instrumental in helping me carve out a career for myself, and dazzled me with her knowledge of baseball and politics. Not long before she passed, she called me and said she was nervous that dementia was settling in, because she could only remember 99 senators and the states they represented--she couldn't remember the second senator from Arkansas. That says it all. I loved her dearly and will always miss her.
