SCHWARTZ--Lawrence. 1944-2019. Lawrence Schwartz of New York, NY passed away on September 27, 2019. He was born to Edith and Louis Schwartz in the Bronx, NY. He attended the Bronx High School of Science, City College and Harvard University. He was a physics professor at Brandeis University and then worked as a scientific advisor at Schlumberger. He was a devoted father and husband. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Schwartz, his children, Mark Schwartz and Karyn Schwartz, and his son-in-law, Murrey Jacobson, and his daughter-in-law, Deborah Levison, and his three grandchildren. Memorial Service at 2 pm on Sunday, September 29 at Riverside Memorial Chapel at 180 W. 76th St., New York, NY.

I am very sorry to hear this. After so many years asking myself why such a silent.
Larry gave me the amazing opportunity to pursue a PhD through the Faculty for the Future -Schlumberger. He was great. Always shared pics of his grand children. I am very sorry for your lost. I know it has been 4 years.

to all the family,
I was so sad to hear belatedly of Larry's passing. I remember him with huge fondness. As a young Schlumberger field engineer I will never forget Larry's kindness and patience with us impatient upstarts. His passion for building on knowledge and engagement particularly with the younger generation was infectious. He was a true gentleman and role model, and sadly they don't make them like this any more. When I think of him still today, it makes me smile. My sincere condolences to all the friends and family. I have known Larry for over 20 years working at Schlumberger and I thoroughly enjoyed his wide-ranging intellect, gimlet-eyed view of business and the world, his wise counsel, and sense of humor. Larry was such a wise and good man, generous with his ideas and thoughts about all manner of things. We never worked on science together, but it was a good day when I would run into him as some interesting conversation was sure to follow. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

My friendship with Larry evolved over a period of time. We not only collaborated on scientific work, but also had discussions on topics ranging from shirts, shoes, NY Times editorials, movies, and politics. With him around traveling was easy. And when you needed help, he was always available.
