Always rememberSydney at Clairol. His handsomeness, laughter, smile and humbleness effected everyone who knew him at work. He was a gentleman, elegant and kind to everyone. I still remember him with fondness.

Sid Drazien was a friend of my family and worked with my father, Ben Antman of Venus Drug Distributors, as the rep for Clairol back in the 1960's. I was fortunate enough to go with Sid, as a favor to my dad, to the New York Worlds Fair in 1964. I just want to say that Sid was so kind to me, I was 19 years old and I thought he was the most handsome man I had ever seen. I am 71 years old now and I just wanted to share this beautiful memory. I know he passed away years ago but wanted to express to his family my deepest condolences.

I met Sydney and Gaby in 1998 while traveling in South America, where we were all members of a small group. When you spend day and night with people for over a month, you get to know them pretty well. Sydney and Gaby were a beautiful, memorable couple and interesting companions. Whether we were hiking the Galapagos, exploring Machu Picchu, or touring an urban art museum, they were the best travel-mates.

I was sorry to learn that Sydney has left us already. Condolences to all his family and friends, especially to Gaby. I will always think fondly of the two of them, and of that special time we shared in the South.

Yesterday, I stumbled upon a photo of myself and Sydney from the late 80's taken at a Clariol Canada function. I reminisced how Sydney was truly loved by all staff, from the office staff to the production line workers. What a wonderful man and exceptional boss.. or 'patron' as we fondly called him back then. I remember walking with him through the production area of the plant in Knowlton, and the women working the 'lines' would wave at him, some would whistle, while others just smiled at him fondly. Sydney would shyly wave back at them while smiling.. and probably being just a little bit embarrassed by all the attention. He was a great sport. He was a great boss. He was a wonderful person and he touched my life in a very positive way and I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to know him, but deeply saddened to just now read of his passing and I needed to say my goodbyes to such a respected man.

He was a very successful executive at Clairol, and everyone saw how humble and kind-hearted he was. He accepted praise very humbly and his smile was a gift everyone loved. I just read about his demise and was saddened for his wife, children, grandchildren. V. Costagliola

Liane and I got to know Sydney and Gabby over the last few years. We always made a point of seeing them on their visits to Sacha and Irina. We have fond memories of our time with Sydney and his joy for life. Our condolences to the family and we hope to see Gabby soon.

Sydney and Gabby came into our lives when our daughter Irina married wonderful Sacha 8 years ago. Syd loved Irina. He appreciated the Greek traditions and loved the close family ties. It was clear his family was the most important to him, and he seemed to be so proud of his family.
Sydney, always dapper and dashing, Gabby always beautiful, and with admiring glances from Syd, he was so proud of his family, always very very gracious.
Happy to ask everyones opnion on world events, he wanted to really see how you felt about things. He always made you feel what you had to say was important, even if he didn't agree. He appreciated the family being together.
I remember our families together in Montreal, a very special week. May his memory be eternal and comfort Gabby Nadja and Sacha. My husband Bob and I were grateful to know him.
In loving memory, may God Bless Him.

It is with profound sorrow and pain that we have learnt of Sydney's death which came far too early. Being with him was always a joy and the walks on Zurichberg will not be the same again - even if we sometimes took a little time to agree on the most suitable places to have pizza. His generosity, his fairness and open mind, his curiosity about all things new will be missed dearly - just as we cannot get rid of good whisky together anymore, as we used to say.

Sydney's departure leaves a big void, most especially to his family which was always closest to his heart. He was, however, absolutely right in saying that death is probably a little more bearable if family and friends who remain behind remember those who have passed away with fondness and a smile.

Sid was one year ahead of me at the University of Pennsylvania. He was Class of 1956 and I was '57.
We were both in the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity.
I've seen him only a few times, at Penn Reunions, since we graduated, but he remains the kindest, most pleasant, and warmest person I have ever encountered. I will miss him, but will cherish our friendship. Bob Daroff

The sadness to have lost such a good friend is now giving way to the warm souvenir of all the good moments we had with him. Sydney is very frequently associated in my prayers. He remains very present to us through a beautiful family.

My Dad, Eric Young, and Sydney were friends and worked together for many years. It was through Dad that I met Gabriele and Sydney. We were always so glad to see them in Vermont. His kindness and great sense of humor were a delight. My thoughts are with his family.

Syd was my boss for 3 years in Canada in the late 80's. It was then that I got to meet Gabriele, Sacha and Nadja and we all remained great friends since then. I'll always remember the laughs we had whether at work, playing tennis, going out to eat, sitting around the table in Esterel with the whole family, or visiting when Syd and Gabriele lived in Germany. We also tended to have great discussions whether politics, economics or solving the world's problems where neither of us had any shortage of ideas..we could also tend towards the crazy and make each other laugh till our sides hurt. When Gloria and I visited Gabby and Syd we always felt so welcome and looked forward to the next time. We both miss him dearly. He had a wonderful outlook on life and his infectious way of having a good time made you feel terrific. He was extremely caring for his family and friends. Gloria and I wish Gabby, Sacha and Nadja peace and our deepest sympathies. We intend and hope to remain friends with you for the rest of our days.

Sydney was my boss at Clairol in the 80's but he remained more than that, a great friend. As stated in the obituary, he was a very caring man, always concerned about your well-being. He will be dearly missed.
Here is a photo taken in 1994, when I invited him to the Medieval celebrations in Quebec City; Sydney and Gabriele on the right side.
