THOMAS ARSDALE Obituary
(1924-2018). The Joint Industry Board of the Electrical Industry mourns the passing of Thomas Van Arsdale. He was a WWII U.S. Naval Veteran and earned an electrical engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. A long-time Member of the Joint Industry Board, and a Trustee on numerous employee benefit plans, he was the former Business Manager of Local Union 3, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), served as the International Treasurer of the IBEW, and succeeded Harry Van Arsdale Jr. as President of the NYC Central Labor Council. Tom was a steadfast advocate on behalf of not only the members of Local Union 3, but of all working men and women of our city. Honesty, integrity, and dedication were his hallmarks. Tom was unwavering in his support for the collective bargaining system, and the Trade Union movement. His significant contributions to our industry will always be remembered.

It was my privilege to have worked for Harry Van Arsdale and for Tom as well. Such wonderful memories. Those were the best years of my life. My heartfelt condolences to the Van Arsdale families and their friends.

Thomas Van Arsdale's support of the our profession through his service as a founding member of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine Board of Governors (now known as the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine) fostered thousands of new physicians over its forty one year history. We are forever grateful to his contribution and extend condolences to his family.
