THOMAS RABIG Obituary

RABIG--Thomas,

77, entered into eternal rest on June 21st after a long illness. Born in Elizabeth, NJ Tom was raised by his beloved mother Agnes Rabig Brower, and grandmother Nora Sweeney. After serving in the US Army he settled in Manhattan and returned to his career in the printing industry. Tom loved all things New York especially the restaurants and theater. He was an avid reader and adventure traveler embarking on Linblad expeditions to the South Atlantic, the Falklands, the west coast of Africa, and most recently to Cuba with his brother Don and friend Peter. He was an antique car buff and the proud owner of a fully restored 1956 Dodge Coronet. For forty years he summered on Fire Island where he was the co-owner with his friend Jon Kinder, of Dependable Pools. Tom was known for his kindness and generosity and for many years volunteered on Fire Island as the coordinator of cart transportation for the disabled. He is survived by his brother Don Rabig, sister-in-law Judith Rabig, sister-in-law Jaye Rabig, nieces and nephews Lorena Rabig, Paul Rabig, Lisa Rabig, David Rabig and Amanda Len, Julia Rabig, Jeffery Sharlet, grandniece Roxanna Ruth Sharlet and grandnephew Malcolm Ray Sharlet, and honorary family members John Baker, Katherine Doti, Sarah Savago, and Ralph Schlussel. Tom is also survived by many friends including Peter Weigel, Bernie Connors, Jeff Vellucci, and especially his dear lifetime friend Mary Marangi. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Rabig, his partner Ted Weichler and good friend, Jack Hutto. Friends may visit Sunday from 2pm to 4pm at Frank E. Campbell (The Funeral Chapel ) Madison Avenue at 81st. Street. Donations may be made in Tom's memory to God's Love We Deliver https://www.glwd.org/

I can't believe you are gone, i was trying to reach you for months, I was in NYC today and was going to just go to to the apt to see why I couldn't reach you and forgot the apt # so I went to look it up online and first thing that pops up was this my heart is so saddened.

Tom you will be terribly missed by me. I consider my self very lucky to have known you. You were a very kind considerate and compassionate person. I enjoyed working with you over the years in arranging the beautiful life Ralphie now has. I will continue to carry on our wishes to keep Ralphies life as perfect as it is. God Bless you and may you rest in eternal peace.
