February 26, 1940 - August 19, 2022
John McKibbon Wright, age 82, of Auburn, AL was born at Hubbard Hospital in Montgomery, AL on February 26, 1940 and passed away at his home on August 19, 2022 in Auburn.
John was a lifetime resident of Auburn. He graduated from Auburn High School and attended The Citadel in Charleston, SC. He graduated from Auburn University where he was President and member of Phi Delta Theta social fraternity. John was also a graduate of the Louisiana State University Banking School of the South. He was a lifetime member of Auburn United Methodist Church.
John was preceded in death by his father, longtime Auburn Mayor G. H. "Monk" Wright; mother, Louise Wright; brother, Circuit Judge G. H. "Spud" Wright, Jr.; sister, Ann Joiner.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carolyn Wright, sons John Wright, Jr. (Kelli), Wade Wright and step-sons Mike Griffin (Carrie) and Randy Griffin (Laura); and 11 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, August 22, 2022 at 10:00 am in Auburn Memorial Park with his step-son Mike Griffin officiating. Frederick-Dean Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.

Such a beautiful service this morning! I will always remember his warm welcomes and sense of humor. It´s a true testimony to faith that he was like a father to ALL his children and that his family was bonded by love..not blood. I will always count myself blessed to be one of his "friends as family" in the 25 plus years I knew him. Rest in His Peace gentleman Johnny. Love you.
