Vicki Ratliff Obituary

RANKIN Vicki Lynn Bates Ratliff was born June 3, 1942 to Howard and Clara Bates of Fort Stockton, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her son, Randall Todd Ratliff.

She is survived by her husband, James B. Ratliff III known as Rusty Ratliff; her children, Karrie Ann Self and husband Mark, Kimberly Kay Teague and husband Billy; grandchildren, Kaycie Rae Teague, Kylee Elizabeth Self, Randall Tate Teague and Ty Austin Self who all were the love of her life, she is also survived by two sisters, Pam Peterson and Judi Ann Ross.

Vicki attended high school in Fort Stockton, Texas. Here she was an honor student and served as a high school cheerleader. She represented Fort Stockton as the Sun Carnival Princess at The Sun Bowl in El Paso, TX. She attended Texas Tech University then married the love of her life, Rusty Ratliff. They moved to Rankin in May of 1965 and ranched in Upton Co. since. Vicki cared deeply for her community and was involved in many organizations such as Rankin Beta Sigma Phi, Keep Rankin Beautiful, Rankin ISD Board of Trustees, and leader of the Upton Co. 4-H club where she taught 2 generations of 4-H'ers. Vicki was known as Nonie to her grandchildren, but to many people, young and old, Nonie was simply her name. Supporting the students of Rankin Schools was her passion, and she could easily be called the #1 fan of the Rankin Red Devils.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at The First United Methodist Church in Rankin with burial to follow in Rankin Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be Danny Michum, Tom Lindsey, Michael Huckaby, Neal Huckaby, Mark Self and Billy Teague. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rosemary Matthews, Ruth Loftin, Donna Bell, Audrey Whatley, Dot Sullivan and Joyce Latham.
