Patricia Sasso Obituary

Patricia Ann "Trish" Sasso (Mitchell), 54, of Morgantown, W.Va., passed away peacefully Saturday, October 31, 2015, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Known by many of her friends and family as "Trish," she was born September 12, 1961, in Albany, N.Y., a daughter of the late Michael J. and Marilyn Vennard Sasso.
She graduated from the University of Albany with a master's degree in social work, obtaining the credential of licensed independent clinical social worker.
Upon moving to West Virginia, she was employed by Valley Community Mental Health as a clinical therapist. She was later employed by West Virginia University School of Medicine in the department of behavioral medicine and psychiatry in Chestnut Ridge Center, until deciding to enter the private sector.
She continued at her own practice until her health no longer permitted her to do so. Although unable to work from her office, she continued to give care to those around her throughout her six-year battle with cancer.
Touching lives in everything she did, she saw the good and beauty in everyone. Any stranger she met quickly became a loving friend. Her dedication to her family was remarkable. She never missed any of her children's events, regardless of how sick she may have been feeling.
She never complained about her situation, but instead always felt grateful for the blessings in her life. She battled courageously, with the heart of a lion, through her illness, desiring to have every precious day she could with her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, Doug Mitchell of Morgantown; a daughter, Abigail "Abby" Sasso Mitchell of Morgantown; a son, Cameron "Cam" Sasso Mitchell of Morgantown; two sisters, Barbara Jean Shields (Terry) of Niskayuna, N.Y., and Ann Marie Mahlitz (Derek) of Cary, N.C.; in-laws Ella C. and William "Larry" Mitchell of Rogersville; two sisters-in-law, Jan Britton (Bill) of Washington and Judy Marshall (Graham) of Houston, Texas; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a sister, Donna Marie Sasso, and a brother-in-law, Jed Howard.
Dr. Michael Craig and the staff at West Virginia University's Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center provided her with caring, competent and professional care. The "Trish's Prayer Warriors" group, which included members across the United States and Canada, also provided ongoing love and support.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501. She will lie in repose from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of a Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, November 5, in St. Mary Catholic Church, 3334 University Avenue, Morgantown, WV 26505, with the Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr. as celebrant. Cremation will follow services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, in care of West Virginia University Foundation, P.O. Box 9300, Morgantown, WV 26506-9300.

Annie and Barbara Jean,
I was so shocked and Very sad to hear about Trish. Last time I saw her (probably few years ago), she told me how she fought off her cancer. She was so proud. I always adored Trisha. Her smile ..which is embedded in my brain...was breathtaking. And a beautiful personality to go with it. God Bless all of your families during this sad time. Trisha will be missed.
