Raymond Amatangelo Obituary

Raymond Patsy Amatangelo Jr., Esq., 66, of Moorpark, Calif., formerly of Donora, died Sunday, December 11, 2016.
He was born August 30, 1950, in Charleroi, a son of the late Raymond Patsy Sr. and Julia Vince Amatangelo.
Mr. Amatangelo lived and worked for most of his life in Donora.
After his graduation from the former Monongahela Valley Catholic High School, he went on to graduate from California University of Pennsylvania. He then earned a law degree from Duquesne University School of Law.
Mr. Amatangelo was an attorney since 1977 and maintained a law office in Donora since 1980. He practiced law over the years with his wife, Janette Baisley, and associates Patrick J. Rega, David Miller and, most recently, Justin Walsh. His law firm has been solicitor for the Borough of Donora since 1990. He maintained an excellent working relationship with the community of Donora and volunteered countless hours to coaching youth sports. In 2010, he moved with his family to California, where he appraised real estate on a part-time basis while also maintaining his law practice in Pennsylvania.
Surviving are his wife, Janette Baisley Amatangelo; daughter Alicia Rae Amatangelo, his pride and joy; stepson Christopher Worstell and wife Jennifer; three grandchildren, Courtney Rae, Dakota and Derek Worstell; and stepson Yancey Taylor. Also surviving are three sisters, Pati Amatangelo, Carol Agronow and husband David and Teri Gass and husband Reed, their children and his nieces and nephews. In addition to family members, Mr. Amatangelo is survived by his best friend since childhood, Speer Ruey, and good friends Raphael Thomas, David R. Miller and Robert Sirilla.
Mr. Amatangelo will be sadly missed by family, friends and his community.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 16, in Our Lady of the Valley Church, Second Street Extension, Donora, with Father Pierre Falkenhan as celebrant. Friends and family wishing to attend the Mass are asked to go directly to the church. A funeral luncheon will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be held in California at a later date.

Brothers are a one time gift ...we Lov them, they Lov us. A lot goes unsaid but but never lessens. When they are in heaven ...the relationship is just as strong but more tender. I wish you comfort in being a great sister ... to a great brother. Lov and prayers for all those years, and all these tears.

I've known Ray (Butch) since our days as kids playing pick-up baseball and basketball games at the old Donora Junior High School. Later our paths crossed as opposing coaches in Ringgolds in-house basketball league. I admired him for the time and passion he had for the youth in Donora. He will surely be missed by all who knew him.

I dont know where to start. Sometimes the shock of traumatic sad events, (such as this) has a way of making one feel at a great loss for words. However, I had to do my best, in trying to convey, just how saddened that I was to hear about the passing of Ray. I mean I had not seen Ray for many years. But, as I stated in my fb post, that, whether you met him once or more, it only took a brief time with him, to feel just how genuine and great a guy as he was. He certainly left a lasting impression, upon you! By all accounts Ray was one with a "heart of gold!" He was also a true friend indeed to my twin brother Kevin, his children, and they all look upon him as family for many years! He was a very good man. I am very sorry that he has passed on. I would like to extend my most heartfelt of sympathies, love thoughts and prayers to his wife Janette, his daughter, stepsons, Yancey, all siblings, and other family members, as well as, close friends, during this time of great sorrow. In addition my Mother Lorraine Keller (Pollard) also sends her condolences. May the Lord comfort, keep, and carry you, all, through this period of loss, and strengthen you all in Jesus name amen!
Rest in peace with God Attorney Ray Amatangelo

Words cannot express how truly sorry I was to hear of Ray's passing. My deepest sympathies to Janette, Chris, and Alicia. The years I spent working with Ray and Janette were some of the best of my career. I learned a lot from Ray who was not only brilliant, but had a truly great sense of humor. With Janette at his side, they were a dream team. I pray for comfort, strength, and peace for his family and close friends at this difficult time.

It is was with shock and deep sadness when I was told that Butch had passed. He was a very nice individual. Smart and witty too. Janette, Alicia and Chris, you will all be in my thoughts and prayers these days and months ahead. Unfortunately, I will be unable,to attend the service and repass due to work constraints.
