Lynne - Frank G. McCandless, 94, of Lynne, Florida, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in Boca Raton, FL with his three children at his bedside.
Frank was married to his beloved wife Anne for 56 years. He served in the Pacific Theater in WWII with the US Army Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain. Frank and Anne moved from their home state of NJ to Lynne, FL, after the war where they opened a country grocery store and gas station in the Ocala National Forest, and then later opened a campground. Frank was a master cabinet maker, and he was most proud of the three grandfather clocks he built, one for each of his children. He had many interests and hobbies including operating a ham radio, painting with oils, photography, baking, clock/ watch repair and learning new things including sign language and computers. There wasn't anything he couldn't repair, from plumbing to electrical.
He was predeceased by his wife Anne McCandless in 1999. He is survived by his three children, Linda, Frank, and Mark (Lisa) McCandless; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Susan Sprovach.
The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services in Ocala. Burial will be done privately. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hiers-baxley.com.
