Christine Gerstenberger Obituary

OELWEIN - Christine A. Gerstenberger Fordyce, 56, of Ryan, and formerly of Oelwein, died Wednesday afternoon, May 20, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Graveside services are 2 p.m., Saturday, July 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hazleton, with Deacon Jim Patera officiating. The family requests that those attending the service wear casual clothing. Following the graveside service there will be a gathering for family and friends at Fontana Park, Hazleton.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Christine Ann Gerstenberger was born Jan. 11, 1959, at Oelwein, the daughter of George Henry and Margaret Raye "Peggy" (Robertson) Gerstenberger. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1977 and attended Hawkeye Tech Community College for two years. Christine was the manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Oelwein and Independence for 12 years. She then worked at Products Unlimited in Guttenberg for four years. Christine enjoyed crocheting, sewing, making hats for babies and helping others.
Christine is survived by her two sons, Shane Gerstenberger of Creston and Kyle (Terri) Kreb of Manchester; two stepsons, Uriah Kreb of Cedar Rapids and Quince Kreb of Waterloo; three grandchildren; one step-grandson; her father, George Gerstenberger of Hazleton; and three brothers, Phillip (Elaine) Gerstenberger of Cameron, Mo., George "Randy" (Andrea) Gerstenberger of Holt, Mo., and Kenneth "Scott" (Sonja) Gerstenberger of Grimes.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her mother.
