Dennis F. "Wolfman" McLane

1952 - 2017

HAZLETON - Dennis F. "Wolfman" McLane, 65, of Hazleton, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Dennis was born March 3, 1952 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Perry N. and Ruth N. (Stearns) McLane. He was a 1971 graduate of Jefferson High School, Independence. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1971 and served proudly until his discharge in 1974. On Sept. 22, 1975 he married Carol L. Harriman at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics Chapel in Iowa City. Dennis worked for many years in the meat packing industry, and worked for Iowa Ham and Tyson's for many years.
Dennis loved to use his hands and spent his free time working on cars. He enjoyed going to concerts with his wife, and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Carol McLane, Hazleton; 3 children Meridith McLane, Hazleton, Dennis McLane Oelwein, and Heather (Guadalupe) Becerra, Waterloo; 11 grandchildren Seth McLane, Brandon Van Note, Haillee Van Note, Xzavier McLane, Gracie Gage, Lillyan Frye, Laura McLane, Luke McLane, Anthony McLane, Natasha McLane and Tristan Becerra, a great grandson Seth McLane; a brother Fred McLane and a sister Sharon Van Zant.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Doris Stacy, and a half-brother Arvin Cone.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with Pastor Howard Mace officiating. Burial will be held at Garden of Memories, Waterloo.
Friends may visit from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 9 a.m. until services Friday at the funeral home.
