Allen H. Maxwell, Jr., 86, went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2016.

MR MAXWELL WAS AN AWESOME MAN AND VERY KIND HE WILL TRULY BE MISSED

Christopher Wilkins

July 12, 2016

I loved being with Allen. He was a deeply kind man, and he brought joy with him everywhere he went. And I loved making music with AllenDaddy Peter as he was known in the 'Porgy and Bess' cast. I also remember thinking every time I shook his strong hand that this was a man who understood a hard day's work.

I so much enjoyed Allen in every happy encounter we had, which were many. I will dearly miss a great man, and a loving friend.

Gregory (Maxx) & family,
Although I had never met your father, he sounds like a wonderful man. And if he was anything like you, Maxx, I'm sure he was a truly good person.

It sounds like Allen's life was very full, even until his passing. What a blessing.

I'm sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you and your family.
With sympathy,

Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man. I don't believe anyone who came into contact with Allen walked away as a stranger. He had a zeal and love for Christ as he also had for Christ's people. With a teethy smile and firm handshake, he greeted everyone he met. He was the husband of my cousin, MaryAnn but he was my cousin. No matter how you became related to him, you became family to him. He loved all in a very special way. He was talented in so many ways, yet he remained very humble, sharing but never flaunting his great talents. Music was an intregal part of his life. Allen was singing, Soon I will be done with the troubles of this World. On the wings of the morning, he was singing, I'll fly Away. As he arrived at the pearly gates he was singing, I'm coming Home. As he entered the pearly gates, he was singing Free at Last. When he arrived at his chosen place with the heavenly choir, the hallelujah chorus could be heard singing, Welcome Home. As he looked around and realized he had gotten back into the presence of God, he was singing, I Made It. Allen's life story has not ended, he left a legacy of love and family. We are forced to continue our life journeys without him but we acknowledge how life changing our interaction with him made us smile a whole lot more. No today is not, good bye Allen. It's just see you later for he has just moved into the next room. I pass God's peace to the Family as Allen has answered his final duty call and has entered into retirement reminding us, Love Never Dies!

To the Maxwell Family,

Our prayers are with you in this tragic time. We met Allen at the Cathedral Buffet, where we both have worked as hosts. We always enjoyed seeing his smiling face as he entered the doors. He always took time to talk to us and we always did likewise. No matter what was going on in our lives we could have a good laugh or two together, which always blessed us. He will be greatly missed.

Uncle Allen. The last time I saw you, we were tearing up the food at Rockbottom, in charlotte, with my mom (Marcia) and papa (Floyd), a couple years ago and we had a wonderful time! You would always stare at me with those see-through eyes and tell me how beautiful I am. Your laugh and your smile will always stay with me. It didn't matter how far away you were or how long it took for us to see each other again, the love was always there and you were and always will be, my favorite uncle. Please watch over our family and shine down on us along with our other angels up there in heaven. S.I.P Uncle Allen. You are GREATLY missed.

June 30, 2016

A firm, almost painful handshake, always followed by a soft, comforting pat on the back.
A booming voice that filled the house, but kind words that would take your breath away.
And now Mr. Maxwell, you are absent, but you are not. You are what you have always been, and will always be. The souls you've touched will continue to sing your songs and the lives you've made will continue to walk the land wearing your smile. The moments you've shared will become stories handed from one generation to the next. You are absent, but you are not. Christians walk a path of righteousness in pursuit of everlasting life. You may have found a way to do that here on earth because as someone who has shaken your firm hand, been shaken by the boom of your voice, benefited from moments we've shared and the words you expressed, yes you are absent, but you are not, I, we, will not let you go....... Thank you for everything Mr. Max....

To the families I extend my deepest condolences and encourage you to grasp on to something that Mr.Max shared with you and pass that on.

June 30, 2016
