Anastasia Mykytyn Obituary

God asks the most of those He loves best. Anastasia lived her life abiding in His requests and answered His final calling to go home on August 27, 2011. She was 85.

Born November 24, 1925, in the village of Stryhanci, Ukraine, she immigrated to the United States in 1949. Anastasia was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church since 1952. She gave her all in supporting the church participating in various volunteer capacities, which included being part of the ``pyrogi' crew. She was the instrumental driving force in organizing fellow lady needle workers to embroider exquisite altar linens. For many years, she also lent her beautiful alto voice to the church choir. Anastasia was a long time member of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America and the Ukrainian American Youth Association.

Outside of home, Anastasia worked as a domestic, building cabinets and, finally, as a baker for the Akron City Women's Club. She took an early retirement to do her best work yet - lovingly caring for her three grandchildren. She was a true lady who could and did ``wear many hats' successfully throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her first and only love, her soul mate and husband of 50 years, Orest. Left to honor and cherish her memory and to forever miss her are daughter, Oriana Smith; grandchildren, Christina Michel (Christopher), Allison, and Nicholas; and her sun, moon and stars - great grandson, Lucas Orest Michel. Finally, her special pal and shadow, Hank, lost his friend.

The family wishes to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to all of the fine staff at Summa Barberton's 1 East. May God bless you a thousand fold for all you did for mom.

Visitation and funeral services will be announced in tomorrow's edition. Anthony Funeral Homes
