Uncle Claude ... I learned so much from him. I learned that hard work and a twist of luck pay off. That feeling welcomed and at home among relatives is way more relevant that material things. That heritage is Very important and that a small flower called edelweiss means so much to so many, I learned that showing warmth and kindness toward children and animals was imperative and expected. I learned that sunflowers are the most beautiful flower on a farm. I learned that good connections keep us healthy and strong in spirit. I learned that religion is important, but the Golden Rule is even better. All of these lessons were taught by just the way he lived his life.... and I'm forever truly grateful that you are my Uncle... Love you always Uncle Claude.

To all of the Cavolis, you have my deepest Condolences.
Uncle Claude,
A monumental man, a legend, that I love and admire got called to heaven.
My childhood memories are filled with trips to Schenectady, favorite of all were trips to Uncle Claudes farm. I was always so excited for this end of the summer excursion. Aunt Betty & Uncle Claude were always so welcoming, kind, and patient with a house full of Cavolis, the Binells would arrive running around and exploring the farm. The Cavolis were the only people willing to open their homes and hearts to six, then seven Binell children. But we always knew we were welcome and would have so much fun!
We knew when we got there that we would be riding Debbie the horse, eating beans and carrots straight from the garden, feeding the sheep, holding baby bunnies, and chasing the chickens around the farm. There were always kittens and puppies to cuddle. If we were lucky a baby goat to spoil. We would explore the barn, climb into the hayloft.
At the end of our visit, the back of the wood paneled station wagon would be overflowing with corn, beans, carrots, and apples fresh from Uncle Claudes garden. He would even sneak in a few heads from the sunflowers for the birds in Arlington. To this very day, every sunflower I see, I think of the giants growing in Uncle Claudes garden.
He always took the time to ask about me and my husband Russell.
He was the most generous man I know. Who would literally would give you the mud stained flannel shirt off his back. He was old school salt of the earth man. Proud of his heritage, he didnt care about impressing anyone, he was strong and simple, what you see is what he is.
Uncle Claude was one of a kind.
A magnificent, authentic man. I will miss him so much.
