"Betty" Ann Schindler



Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Schindler (Ward) died surrounded by her children on November 9, 2015 at the age of 71.

Betty is survived by her four children, Sherry Ann Carson (Scott), Alvin Eugene Schindler (Kylie), Lori Marie Garmus (Daniel), and Gregory Alan Schindler; grandchildren, Matthew (Lindy), Blaine, Haley (John), Ashley (Ian), Jessica, Madison, Sydney, Mason, Tyler, Taylor, Bentley, Peyton, and six great-grandchildren; her siblings, Frieda Shepherd (Clyde), James Ward (Joetta), Thomas Ward (Doris), Nancy Christian, and Ginny Sue Brabban; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernon Schindler (Renata), Charles Schindler, Harry Schindler (Lana), Joyce Schindler, Pauline Schindler, and Mary Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Alvin Schindler; her siblings, Johnny Ward, Freddy Ward, and Roma Jay Ward; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hess Schindler, Fritz Schindler, Joanne Schindler, and Bill Brabban.

Betty was born on January 8, 1944 in McDowell County, W. Va. to Fred and Mabel Ward. After moving to Akron, Betty began working for Mechanical Industries in Quality Control. She married Alvin on September 21, 1963. Over nine years, the couple welcomed four children into their home and they taught them about putting forth their best, trying new things, working hard and running a business. Betty worked along with her husband to run several successful businesses over the years including All-Ohio Trucking. Betty will always be remembered as a kind, loyal and compassionate mother, sister and friend who provided support and encouragement.

Betty was an active and dedicated Jehovah's Witness and enjoyed attending meetings and the door to door ministry.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. on November 28th at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 4620 Mayfair Rd., the family will begin receiving friends beginning at noon. A reception will follow at the Coventry Oaks pavilion (40 Axline Ave., Akron). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Betty's life.

The family would like to thank Diana Soccorsi for the love,compassion and friendship she showed our mother and the many loving medical caregivers for their efforts and dedication to her care.

I was trying to locate Betty and just found this. So sad, because I lived with Dolly and Tony and she was our neighbor and friend/babysitter in McDowell. So sad because I live in Tallmadge and never knew she was living right next door to where I live now.SHE WAS A NICE PERSON.

Dear Sherry, Alvin, Lori and Greg,
I want you to know that it was a honor and a blessing to walk that journey with your mother. She spoken often of her love for her children. Not every day was good day but the good days will always dear to my heart. My you all find peace and love with each other. And know that I loved her as a sister and as family did.
