Elder Fred Lethair

Green Jr.

Elder Fred Lethair Green Jr. (Tsgt Ret. Air Force) passed away on August 31, 2018.

Mr. Green was born March 13, 1939 in Franklin, Ohio to Fred Lethair and Minnie Mae Green Sr. in 1959, he graduated from North High School, Akron, Ohio at 17, he enlisted in the navy and served four years. After he completed his commitment, Mr. Green went to Cleveland Technology Institute for two years and studied electronics. In 1962, he enlisted in the air force, where he earned the rank of Tech Sargent and served for 20+ years. On January 11, 1963, he married Beverly (Freightman) Green, and together they had three children. In 1980, he retired with an honorable discharge, and moved to Oscoda, Mich. with his family.

Mr. Green went on to earn several degrees: AA from Alpena Community College, BA from Saginaw Valley State University, and an MS from Central Michigan University. He also held various positions over the years: computer science teacher at Alpena Community College, flight simulator instructor at Wurthsmith AFB, and worked for civil service in Battle Creek, Mich. and Columbus, Ohio.

After a divorce and some wandering, Mr. green recommitted his life to the lord in his mid-60's. He answered the call to the ministry as a Deacon, Minister, and then as an Elder at Second Baptist Church Akron, Ohio. He met and married Hattie Carter-Green, and they eventually moved back to Akron. There the new family embraced him warmly.

Elder Fred Green Jr. loved the outdoors and was active in the Boy Scouts. His favorite hobby was flying model airplanes that he built. He was a Freemason, and Shriner, and part of Lions Club International.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; and daughter, Angie Green.

Elder Fred Green Jr. leaves behind to cherish his memories: his wife, Ms. Hattie Carter-Green; his children: Caroline Scott of Biloxi, Miss,

Anthony (Kim) Green (Lt Col. Ret. Army) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Elder

Andrew (Jena) Green of Ypsilanti, Mich., Talon (Rita) Burress of Grand Rapids, Mich.; sisters: Lena Gelton, Gwendolyn (James) Weary, Deborah (Roy) Simpson, Michelle Ammons, and Cherise (Troy) Little; former spouse, Beverly Green of Oscoda, Mich.; step-children: Andrea (Kevin) Edwards of Norton, Ohio, Annice Robinson of Columbus, Ohio; Garvin-Teresa Carter of Copley, Ohio; Adrian Carter of Gilbert, Ariz., Amber Carter of Akron, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other loved ones.

A memorial service will be held at Second Baptist Church Akron on 9/14/18 at 1:30 p.m.
