Howard Shoup Obituary
RITTMAN -- Howard E. Shoup, 86, of Rittman, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Magnolia Village following a brief illness.
He was born October 20, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pa. to Stanley and Ruth (Clingman) Shoup and had lived in Rittman since 1979. He lived in Toledo and Akron prior to moving to Rittman. Howard graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo; The Ohio State University; and received his law degree from Toledo University Law School.
He married Eleanor Bower on October 1, 1948, they have been married over 65 years, she survives.
Howard worked as an Attorney and was employed by Brown-Graves Lumber since 1956 in Personnel and Labor Relations.
He was active in the National Amputee Golf League, Life Master of the American Contract Bridge Association and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and was an avid golfer.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, Douglas (Julie) Shoup of Cuyahoga Falls, Kathryn (John) Aldrich of Cincinnati, Laura (Paul) Stehura of Columbus and "extra" daughter, Denise (Jeff) Meier of Texas; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents and grandson, Austin Shoup.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held in the Springtime.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Howard Shoup to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Ross Heart Hospital (Fund 310473). I remember how kind Mr. Shoup was whenever I would spend the night with Laurie in grade school. I recall that he was always smiling and laughing. Those are good memories from over forty years ago. My condolences to the family, especially to my old friend, Laurie.

Iknew Howard in my college and law school years, because his daughter Laura was one of my best friends.
My heart goes out to all of you with prayers of peace and comfort. Howard was a remarkable man, and I was lucky to know him.

I'm sorry for your loss.
Howard hired me when I was a college student working at Brown-Graves. I was one of his secretaries for a time as well. He was quite the character - I have many memories.
