NORTON -- James Sabo, age 82, passed away October 26, 2008. He was born May 3, 1926 in Barberton.
Jim Sabo was preceded in death by his precious wife, Millicent (Wright) Sabo of 58 years; his mom and dad (James and Elizabeth); sisters, Elizabeth Sabo, and Anna and her husband John Lazar.
He is survived by his daughters, Krista Sabo and Rochelle and her husband Paul DeWitt and his grandson, James Christopher Dobbs.
Jim always said that he only worked for two people, his dad and Uncle Sam. His dad at the grocery store and the Stadium Grill, and Uncle Sam in the U.S. Army in the Phillipines where he was wounded on the same day the first Atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. He then served a year in the Army of Occupation in Japan where he served in General MacArthur's Honor Guard. He often told the story of when he was on duty in the lobby of Headquarters and General MacArthur came in to use the elevator and he had to tell the General that this elevator was under repair and that he had to use the other one, the General said, "thank you soldier". He of course always added that he told General MacArthur where to go
Jim was the owner of Sabo's Distributing, where he and his wife Milly worked side by side for over 30 years.
Jim enjoyed golfing, bowling and people. He enjoyed his family and friends. Jim was pretty much the life of the party telling jokes which he enjoyed telling as much as we enjoyed hearing him tell them. His sense of humor will be very much missed by his family and friends. At family gatherings we always would hear "Uncle Jim, tell us a joke", there were many times that he would get his sister Anna laughing so hard she would cry, I think he did that on purpose to torment her. He graduated from Barberton High in 1944 and was a member of the VFW, Elks Lodge, and the Barberton Moose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 31st at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd., Norton 44203, with Fr. James G. Maloney celebrant. A celebration of his life will be held following the Mass in the church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Wadsworth Rittman Home Care, 195 Wadsworth Rd., Wadsworth, OH 44281; or to Norton EMS, 3230 Greenwich Rd., Norton, OH 44203. (Zak-Monbarren, 330-658-2211)

Sincere sympathy extended to the family from all of us in the "Aunt Katy (Wright) and Uncle Bill Mills family". Memories of family bond us as cousins. Now all pain and suffering is over and James and Millicent are reunited.
May God strengthen each of you and bless you with fond memories of the times you enjoyed together.

I remember Mr. Sabo as kind and caring. He would give me a pop, as I watched them load and unload trucks on Newell St. 1960's . He will be missed.

To Jim's family.
A big part of my life is gone and wll be sadly missed! Jim and I had as much fun together that any two guys should be allowed to have. I know there 's golf carts some where that will never be the same. As jim told me many time I'm glad we had the fun we had when we were younger. LOL
