Marie Scott Obituary

After walking the Metroparks for 25 years, our angel is walking into heaven. Non hiked her last trail two days before she left us on September 9, 2009 at the age of 80.

Marie was born and lived her life in Akron. She volunteered at E.J. Thomas Hall as an usher for 25 years and bowled on the Bettes PTA League for 40. Marie never met a stranger, her warmth and kindness touched everyone. Her joy in life was her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Roger) Puett of Wytheville, Virginia; son, Dennis (Linda) of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Scott (Sharon) Kleintop of Prescott, Arizona, Todd Kleintop of New Franklin, Kelly Ann (J.D.) Eaton of Cuyahoga Falls, Shane Scott of Akron, Roger Puett, Jr., John Puett, and Michelle Howard; great-grandchild, Cory McGerry; brother, Edward Webb of Cuyahoga Falls; and loving neighbors, Don and Nora Heidbrider and Jim and Marcella Greathouse.

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle) with Rev. Dr. Barry French officiating. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 until 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Cleveland Office, 4500 Rockside Rd., Suite 440, Independence, 44131.

I just saw Cousin Marie at Marc's a few months back. I am so glad that I ran into her. Marie was always the epitome of grace and elegance. She was the most soft spoken, gentle and sweet person I think I've ever known. When my dad (Jim Walters) was sick she used to stop by and bring him goodies now and again and just sit and visit with him. In his failing days, when everyone else had their own lives to tend to, Marie always made time to visit her cousin Jimmy. My dad used to tell me stories of when they were kids, and Marie, being a few years older was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen! Until the day he died, he so appreciated her wonderful visits and kindness. Just as we missed Aunt Hazel and her kindness and grace, we will miss her daughter Marie very much. Heaven has gained a very bright and shining star and I'm sure Aunt Hazel was waiting with open arms as I'm sure my dad was.

She had the face and voice of an angel and her laugh was contagious and real. She showed the world a kindness and complete love that few get the chance to experience. I have been told that human beings are not perfect, yet I cannot remember one single imperfection about her. She was so brave and strong and taught us so much. My dearest Aunt Marie...you will be sorely missed. Thank you for sharing lifes most important gifts with us and teaching us that family and friends mean so much more than material things. I love and cherish you forever.

As the sun shines brightly this morning, we know that our dear Aunt Marie is an angel among us. She was my favorite aunt. She taught us to be grateful for all of our blessings. One of my most special memories is the very special gifts that she took time to time to wrap for us for our birthdays and christmas. We will always love and remember you.

Marie was a beautiful person inside and out,she always had a hug and a smile for everyone.She will be greatly missed on our thursday morning league,it just won't be the same without her!My sympathy goes out to Cathy,Dennis and their family.

Marie was a true blessing to live next door to for over 15 years for myself, my kids, and her best pal Max. She truly will be missed. My heart goes out to her family during this time of grief. Marie will always be in our thoughts and in our prayers.
