I must write the same sentiment every year, but I don't think a month goes by that I don't think about Dick. My office mate while I was finishing my dissertation and teaching at Kent State, his humor and wisdom kept me on pace to finish. I watched him deal with life's challenges with aplomb and speak so glowingly and lovingly of his family. As I complete my academic career, I am grateful to have had a friend who mentored me with such selflessness. I miss you Dick.

I was thinking of Dick just a few weeks ago when I learned a friend was diagnosed with leukemia. Knowing Dicks' perseverance, I assured him that there was hope--something Dick always exuded. I miss my friend and office mate.

The anniversary of Dick's passing arrives in my inbox each year and I can't but think fondly of a good friend who helped me navigate my time as a VAP at Kent State. A kind soul and a brilliant person who cared about his students. Rest peacefully Dick

Dick and I shared an office at Kent State during the latter years of his career. He was a kind and generous person with a great sense of humor. And an old-school academic. He cared about his students and colleagues deeply and was so very helpful to me as I struggled to complete my dissertation and land a job. We need more Dick Craig's--people who care. I miss his wisdom deeply.

Oh dear, I just learned of Dick's death, and I am so saddened. He was my professor when I was an undergraduate, and I went on the first Mexico trip to Xalapa, Vera Cruz as a study abroad student. He inspired me for life, and I went on to study Anthropology and Latin American Studies with Olaf Prufer at Kent, and later for my PHD at the U of Florida. Richard Craig was a wonderful person and a fantastic teacher, and all my sympathies go to his family and friends. Andale, Ricardo!

From 2002 until 2007, I served as an adjunct in the political science department at KSU and shared an office with Dick for several years. He was generous with his time and advice with me and mentored me in myriad ways. During a time when I struggled to finish my dissertation, Dick was always there with an encouraging word and a funny story, keeping me sane until I finally finished. I saw him struggle with his illness, but he did so with immense courage and good humor. I am terribly sorry for your loss. Dick will be missed by many beyond your family. He was a truly great person.
