September 29, 1922-November 5, 2017 HOLLIS Geraldine Carrick, 95, Hollis, Oklahoma, passed away at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, on Sunday, November 5, 2017. Geraldine was born to Bryan and Crystal (McCarty) Nell in Hollis, Oklahoma on September 29, 1922. Geraldine graduated from Hollis High School in 1940 and went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1948, and her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1956. She taught school and coached for many years at Ron and Hollis High Schools. In 1948, the Ron girls coached by Geraldine were County, District and Conference Champs. She was inducted into the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1978 and the Harmon County Sports Hall of Fame on May 23, 1998. She married Floyd Carrick on July 25, 1958 in a double wedding with Marjorie (McFadden) and Wayne Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; her parents, Crystal and Bryan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sybil and Gene Francis, Wilma Gene and Roland Kromer; brother, Warren Nell; brother-in-law, Norman Williams; and sister-in-law Therol Nell. Survivors include her son, Kyle and daughter-in-law Susan of Arlington, Texas and grandchildren, Blake, Grant, Reid and Arden; her sister, Wanda Faye Williams, brother, W.B. Nell, Jr. both of Hollis; and brother, G.Q. Nell and wife Donna and sister-in-law, Shirley Nell of Lubbock, Texas. Survivors also include G.D. and Virginia Carrick of Norman, Oklahoma and Leon and Bessie Jean Carrick of Hollis. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her very much. The family is forever grateful to Donna Thompson for her care and dedication to Geraldine. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the Church of Christ, 1215 N. 7th Street, Hollis, Oklahoma 73550. Visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at the Harmon County Funeral Home, 417 E. Broadway, Hollis, Oklahoma 73550.
