Gretchen M. Peters

Gretchen M. Peters, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009 in Elderwood Health Care at Crestwood. She was born in Town of Pendleton, NY, on December 7, 1927, the daughter of the late Frederick ”Fritz” and Ruth (Hammon) Klein.Mrs. Peters graduated from North Tonawanda High School. She was a library assistant at Starpoint High School for over 28 years, before retiring in 1990.She was an active member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ at Shawnee and volunteered at the North Tonawanda Intercommunity Church Food Pantry.Mrs. Peters is survived by her husband, Clyde L. Peters; they were married on February 15, 1947; one daughter, Leigh R. (Carl R.) Andrews of North Tonawanda; three grandchildren, Kelly (Jason Francis) Andrews, Daniel Andrews and Lindsey (Hector) Acevedo; three great-grandchildren, Kacey and Jason Francis and Nataleigh P. Acevedo; also one brother, Lee (Betty) Klein of Pendleton, NY; sister-in-law of Artha Klein of Bel Air, MD; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Larry Peters and sister of the late Dean Klein.The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday and Monday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ - Shawnee, 3921 Mapleton Road, North Tonawanda, NY, with Rev. Ronald Lord officiating.
