Jerry Laurent

Dec 28, 1942 - Dec 26, 2011 MUSTANG Mustang resident, Jerry Suzanna Laurent, 68, went to Heaven on December 26, 2011 to join her Lord. She was born December 28, 1942 in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1960 and earned an Associate's Degree in Technical Writing from Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City. She was employed by Boeing at the time of her death.She joined the Will Rogers chapter of the American Business Women's Association in 1976 and became a charter member of the Al-Lu-We chapter in 1981. She served in every chapter office, as ABWA District 3 Vice President, and was an ABWA Top 10 Businesswomen of the Year in 1996. She joined the Society for Technical Communication in 1984 and spent seven years on the Board of Directors. She was named an STC Fellow in 2008. She is survived by Leroy, her husband of 51 years; as well as son, Steven Laurent and wife Kelly; daughter, Sandra Bushnell and husband Jim; son, David Laurent and Lorena Jones; and daughter, Debra Carter. She is also survived by brother, Kenneth Minick and wife Nova; sister-in-law, Nelda Minick; brother, Richard Minick and wife Terri; sister, Judy Jennings and husband Darcy; sister, Janie Clure and husband Bill; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and LaVerne Minick; brothers, Harry and Tom Minick; and son-in-law, Danny Carter. This beloved mother will live forever in the hearts and minds of her family and friends.The family will greet visitors on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Mercer-Adams. Funeral service will be Friday, December 30, 2 p.m., at Mercer-Adams Chapel, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
