Roland Fishel Obituary

Roland R. Fishel was born on July 14, 1929 in Oklahoma City. He was called home by the Lord on September 15, 2004. He was 75. He was our guidepost, counselor, mentor, hero, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be remembered and sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched. Roland is survived by Joyce, the sunshine of his life for 55 years, his sister Marguerite Marshall and her husband Gene, mother in law Gene Stejskal, son Steve Fishel and his wife Linda, daughter DiAnne Bredvick and her husband Rob, grandchildren Adam Solomons and his wife Tonya, Dillon Bredvick and Keele Fishel, Jody & Matt Musich, Jennifer and Dustin Mues, six great grandchildren and his many nephews and nieces. Roland retired from a successful career in sales and commercial management with AT&T in 1984 after a 37 year career which started in the mailroom at Southwestern Bell at age 16. Roland was very active in serving his community with the Salvation Army Board, Northwest Kiwanis Club, Sundowners, Christmas Connection, Sirloin Club member in support of the Junior Livestock Show, and past President of the State Chamber of Commerce. He was a long time supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and Silver Beaver recipient. Roland also found great joy in being an elder at his church, Western Oaks Christian Church. 'Well done my good and faithful servant.' Please join us to celebrate the joy, love and blessings Roland brought to all of us at Western Oaks Christian Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2004. Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Oaks Christian Church.

Roland exemplified Christian Love in living his life of caring, sharing, love, and compassion.

All of these were displayed at the time of Uncle Walters death. These atributes, and subsequent unselfish devotion shown attending to the needs and requests of Aunt Helen will always be remembered with love.

Our most sincere condolences go to Joyce, Gene, and all of Roland's family.

2 Tim 4:6-8 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. (7) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (8) Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

What a role model. Thank you, Roland, for all you taught us...generosity, dignity, humor, responsibility, how to be a good and faithful person and so many other life lessons. As we cling to fond memories of you, we'll continue to learn from you. We love you.
