David Wright Obituary
HUDSON, FL --- David F. Wright of Hudson, FL and formerly of Machias, NY, passed away on April 25, 2024 at his residence at the age of 76.
He was born on October 25, 1947 in Fillmore, NY and was a son of the late Fay V. and Marie (Worden) Wright. He was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran and served from 1968-1970. He was a member of the Machias American Legion, was a past fire investigator for Cattaraugus County and enjoyed carpentry work. He also attended the First Christian Church in Machias and had helped build the Habitat House.
Most importantly, he made it his mission in life to make this world a little better than how he found it. Respectfully, he did just that by taking in children over the years. He proudly adopted five children and considered them as his own.
He had worked as an Operating Engineer for Local 17 in Buffalo and had previously worked for Buffalo Crushed Stone.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly J. (Aldrich) Wright whom he married on February 2, 2022; his children: Shawn Wright of Machias, Roman Wright of Phoenix, AZ and Alexis, Taja and Latisha Hartman all of Buffalo; his siblings: Gerald Wright of East Aurora and Leslie Wright of West Seneca; his sisters-in-law: Denise and Joan Wright. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine M. Wright and his siblings: Doris Lawn, Lois Lee and Harold, George and Earl Wright.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11am at the Machias Fire Hall, 9548 Main St, Machias, NY 14101 with Mr. Pete Andrews officiating. Final interment will be held in Freedom Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Machias Youth Commission, P.O. Box 87, Machias, NY 14101 or to the King Memorial Library, P.O. Box 509, Machias, NY 14101.
